ARCHIBUS Announces Compliance with OSCRE and COBIE Standards
July 16, 2010, Boston, Massachusetts – ARCHIBUS, Inc. (www.archibus.com), the #1 developer worldwide of real estate, infrastructure, facilities and environmental management software, announces that it is compliant with Open Standards Consortium for Real Estate’s (OSCRE) Space Classifications (SPCL V1.0) criteria as well as with Construction Operations Building Information Exchange (COBIE) standards.
Working closely with these two organizations will allow ARCHIBUS to help establish common data exchange standards for real property and facilities management data that improves administrative and operational efficiency, particularly in the federal government sector.
OSCRE ’s goal is to normalize data formats defined by other data standards-setting organizations, such as IFMA and BOMA, as well as those promoting Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology. The end result is creating a common standard that facilitates the exchange of real estate data such as space classifications, tenant details, lease abstract information, and other types of data.
Similarly, COBIE’s intent is to standardize and centralize the process of gathering, assembling, and exchanging facilities management operational, maintenance and product information using more efficient platform-neutral, electronic data exchange. This enables facilities managers to simplify the exchange of facilities data—such as space information, equipment, warranty terms, preventive maintenance requirements/processes, equipment design, spare parts suppliers, and specific parts inventories—with their existing and new BIM models such as those provided by using Revit.
Compliance with OSCRE and COBIE is an increasingly common requirement at federal government administrative and military departments/agencies. Because ARCHIBUS software is currently in use at many federal entities including the Departments of State and Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the US Air Force (USAF), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and many others, support of OSCRE and COBIE standards will aid in government efforts to improve data-sharing and analysis that reduce the cost of owning/leasing and managing federal properties.
Federal agencies often mandate the use of facilities management software that is not only OSCRE – and COBIE-compliant but also available as a Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS) solution. COTS solutions, such as ARCHIBUS, must also support bi-directional linkage with CAD, BIM, and GIS software as well as seamless data exchange with major ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, among others. ARCHIBUS software satisfies those federal requirements, and the growing number of similar state and private sector mandates, by delivering OSCRE and COBIE compliance, software tools for cost allocation and chargeback, Key Performance Indicator support, along with other performance measurement capabilities.
