New York City Department of Design and Construction Chooses Skire

MENLO PARK, Calif., August 7, 2009 – Skire, Inc. (www.skire.com), the leading provider of capital program, facilities, real estate and project portfolio management software, today announced that the New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC) has selected its Unifier™ platform for comprehensive capital project management across its portfolio of client agency projects. Unifier will integrate with the department’s existing IT systems and replace a group of outdated applications while supporting its newly streamlined workflow processes and performance measurement indicators.

“Design and construction excellence is a priority at the DDC,” said Raul Canabal, assistant commissioner for information technology services in the department. “One example of our pursuit of excellence is represented by our internal culture of continuous measurement and improvement. We believe Skire shares these values and we look forward to significantly improving service quality and cost effectiveness to our clients and citizens through use of the Unifier platform.”

The department manages design and construction for over 20 city agencies, such as the Department of Environmental Protection, Department of Transportation, New York Police Department and others. To improve visibility into project costs, information, bids, procurement, payments, change requests, schedules and other attributes, the department sought to improve data reliability, information timeliness and usability by replacing 11 standalone legacy applications with a single, integrated, Web-based solution that enables users to share information, automate routine processes, and monitor project status in real time. An integrated solution also enables the department to align its workflow processes efficiently, measure performance against a scorecard, and reduce the costs associated with redundant functionality and time spent in error-prone data entry and reconciliation between incompatible systems.

Skire Unifier was chosen after an extensive due diligence process that evaluated numerous potential solutions.  Unifier reduces the costs and disruption of purchasing hardware, upgrading software and supporting multiple desktop applications. It also integrates with the department’s Microsoft SQL database environment and will be accessible to approximately 300 users through a standard Web interface. Workflows can be configured to match the department’s existing processes without requiring any specialized programming, which further accelerates productivity and minimizes cost.

“The New York City Department of Design and Construction’s commitment to quality and efficiency is reflected in its commitment to project management excellence,” said Sateez Kadivar, vice president of business operations for Skire. “We are delighted to be chosen and look forward to a long term strategic relationship with the city.”

Skire Unifier is a powerful business process automation platform for managing programs, projects, resources and assets. The platform centralizes comprehensive management capabilities and makes them available to everyone who needs them through a standard Web browser. With robust cost management and project controls capabilities, Skire’s Unifier delivers the best combination of pre-defined workflows, best practices, ease-of-use and adaptability.
