Day 8: Plan your next steps
On this Saturday morning I am sitting behind my laptop computer feeling overwhelmed by all the positive feedback I received from all of you about the 31 Day Challenge to improve your IWMS implementation. Thank you so much for your continued support and advice!
What we have covered so far in the challenge:
- Day 1: Gather information about your current implementation
- Day 2: Evaluate your contract
- Day 3: Create a Customer Satisfaction Survey
- Day 4: Conduct a Reference Site Visit
- Day 5: Join a Users’ Group and Participate
- Day 6: Identify Training Requirements
- Day 7: Monitor and Analyze Systems’ usage
As I fully understand the impact of the daily tasks, today is a day to plan ahead for the coming weeks. You are breaking down the daily task in smaller chunks of actions.
Today’s Task
Most daily tasks can’t actually be completed in one day as you just need more than one day. E.g. Reference Site Visit, Customer Satisfaction Survey.
- Today’s task is to make a project (MS Project or similar) for each daily task and plan your actions accordingly.
- I have made an example for daily task 3 – Conduct a reference site visit
| ID | Task | Start Date | End Date |
| 1 | Conduct a reference site visit | 08/04/2009 | 09/04/2009 |
| 2 | Identify Reference Site Customers | 08/05/2009 | 08/06/2009 |
| 3 | Call Selected Sites | 08/06/2009 | 08/07/2009 |
| 4 | Make an appointment | 08/07/2009 | 08/08/2009 |
| 5 | Select visiting team and prepare checklists | 08/10/2009 | 08/24/2009 |
| 6 | Visit the reference customer | 08/24/2009 | 08/25/2009 |
| 7 | Write Visit Evaluation Reports | 08/25/2009 | 09/03/2009 |
| 8 | Distribute Evaluation Repors | 09/03/2009 | 09/04/2009 |
- If you break your daily tasks down and consider each of them as a project, you will more likely complete them
