ARCHIBUS TEAMS Named One of Top 100 Products by Buildings Magazine

Thanks to Bill Manning of ARCHIBUS we are able to publish a recent press release of Archibus TEAMS which we didn’t include in our post of last week: Sustainability in IWMS is not a hype. As we want to be as thorough as we can in providing you with interesting information from the IWMS community we publish the post hereby.

June 4, 2009, Boston, Massachusetts – ARCHIBUS, Inc. (www.archibus.com), the #1 software developer worldwide of real estate, infrastructure and facilities management solutions, announces that its TEAMS environmental software suite has been chosen as one of Buildings magazine’s Top 100 Products/Services for 2009, an annual review that will be featured in its June issue.

Thousands of products were reviewed by the publication’s editorial staff, after which an elite group of 100 products and services was selected based upon a number of factors.

Developed and supported by the ARCHIBUS Solution Center – Environment + Sustainability Services (ASC-E+SS), the TEAMS comprehensive suite of environmental applications also integrates with geographic information system (GIS) applications from leading geospatial software developer ESRI.

The result is an advanced environmental technology platform that also provides invaluable geospatial context for tracking and managing building data, hazardous materials inventories/procedures, waste streams, sustainability projects and more.

“The combination of TEAMS with other ARCHIBUS real estate, infrastructure and facilities management solutions gives users the ability to dramatically increase ROI through cost-effective asset management,” emphasizes Joe Kolmer, COO of ASC-E+SS. “It also provides proactive and strategic approaches for compliance with regulatory requirements.”

TEAMS Comprehensive Application Suite

The TEAMS family of environmental applications consists of:

  • Compliance & Financial Management: For consolidating Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs and tracking permits, orders, corporate initiatives; includes calendar with e-mail notifications
  • Material Data Safety Sheet (MSDS) Management: Web-based MSDS inventory; search by location or chemical manufacturers
  • Green Building: Tracks and documents progress toward LEED certification and Green Rating projects, as well as carbon footprint metrics
  • Environmental Health & Safety (EHS): Collects information on training, incident reporting, as well as medical monitoring
  • Waste Management: Manages any wastes/discarded materials; recycling; tracks storage, transportation, and final disposition storage
  • Clean Building: Manages asbestos, lead-based paint, and other hazardous materials
  • Environmental Monitoring: Consolidates monitoring data, manages data for any media, compares data to standards, plots and reviews trends

A field-tested and proven solution, the TEAMS MSDS Management application is a key component of the ARCHIBUS-based First Responder system at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. MSDS Management tracks the location and contents of Goddard’s toxic chemical inventories on its 1,200-acre campus. Accessible over the campus wireless network, the chemical materials information is easily accessed by first responders to inform appropriate procedures during spills or fires.

“TEAMS provided an easy-to-use method of accessing our data, while integrating with our existing systems to save labor,” reports Gary A. Craig, a Programmer/Analyst at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.

Pittsburgh-based Duquesne Light Company (DLC) has also deployed TEAMS Compliance, Monitoring MSDS, and Waste Management applications to support 300 environmental compliance programs at 190 operating and closed facilities in its service area. Compliance issues included management of underground storage tanks, monitoring and maintenance of legacy disposal facilities, permits, tracking waste shipments, distribution of MSDS materials and other tasks.

“We were able to downsize and still actually improve our recordkeeping,” says Edward Kappler, former Manager of Environmental and Real Estate Projects
at Duquesne Light Company

TEAMS has helped DLC replace a much more costly service for managing MSDS data; reduced duplication of effort by allowing everyone to tap into a central database; and improved efficiency of operations. Overall, TEAMS has allowed DLC to better manage its environmental responsibilities with fewer resources and at lower cost.

“With TEAMS,” observes ARCHIBUS President and founder Bruce K. Forbes, “organizations gain enhanced decision-making capabilities that reduce risk by providing ready access to consistent and credible environmental data.”
