Guys,

thank you so much for your valuable input. I18n of IWMS is a very dynamic environment both from a user perspective as well as from an organizations perspective. Therefore quality guidelines are a must to cope with I18n in IWMS.

Yours Sincerely,

Steven

Great points from both Steven and Bernard.

I would add that a number of our customers have also used TRIRIGA's multi-language capabilities to tailor their IWMS systems to their industry and/or internal language.

They use TRIRIGA's Site Style Manager to change labels at run-time rather that changing record and field labels at a system-level.

A lot of global companies mandate a single language throughout their organization to by-pass some of these issues. However issues will arise when exposing the IWMS solution to 3rd party providers where people executing work on behalf of the company on the shop floor do not have these kind of mandates or skill sets. A clear ROI can be developed whether to expose a solution beyond internal employees.

Other international issues I have come accros during recent implementations:

- Privacy issues: the ability to expose employee data differs from country to country. Some countries will even not allow to have employee data cross international borders.

- Security: Many organizations have smaller operations cross border limiting segregation of duties among staff.

- Reporting: Global companies keep slicing and dicing their organizations. It is important to plan hierarchy structures etc appropiately so future changes can be made easily.
