UTHSCSA selects FM:Systems
RALEIGH, N.C. – March 3, 2009 – FM:Systems, a leading provider of integrated workplace management systems (IWMS) and computer-aided facility management (CAFM) software, today announced that the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) selected FM:Interact to improve space tracking and to reassign and reorganize underused space.
“With more than 2.5 million square feet and satellite campuses in Harlingen, Edinburg and Laredo, we needed a solution that could interactively tie floor plans together, track occupant information, provide a database for all space information and allow for reorganization,” said Leigh Ann Kensky, UT Health Science Center director of facility space planning and real estate contracts. “With FM:Systems we can make our research space more productive and recapture unused space, ensuring we get the most value out of our facilities.”
The space information captured by FM:Systems will enable the Health Science Center to process and report on the data needed to accurately recover indirect costs for research facilities. Also, the university will be better able to assign productive researchers adequate working area.
The Health Science Center will also use FM:System’s Real Estate Portfolio Module to track more than 30 leased facilities across the state. The lease administration capabilities will help the institution manage critical dates and track expenses.
“The Health Science Center plans to leverage FM:Interact in a way that demonstrates one of its core competencies – helping companies recapture underutilized space,” said Michael Schley, founder and CEO, FM:Systems. “As economic conditions begin to impact institutions like universities and medical centers, it’s critical that they maximize the utilization of research facilities and tightly monitor expenses.”
