The LSU Health Sciences Center, located in New Orleans, was established in 1931. It is comprised of six schools, twelve Centers of Excellence, and two patient care clinics. Other facilities of the LSU Health Services Center include Charity Hospital and University Hospital, two distinguished teaching hospitals. LSU was heavily hit during the Katrina hurricane and has been making great strides at returning to full capacity.
