Bruce K. Forbes Named an IFMA Fellow

October 24, 2008, Boston, Massachusetts — Bruce K. Forbes, President/CEO and founder of ARCHIBUS, Inc. (archibus.com), the #1 software developer worldwide of real estate, infrastructure and facilities management solutions, was inducted on October 17 as an IFMA Fellow at this year’s IFMA (International Facility Management Association) World Workplace Conference in Dallas, Texas.

The IFMA Fellowship is the highest honor bestowed by IFMA and the most prestigious one given in the field of facility management.

The grant of a Fellowship is based on a range of criteria that takes into account an individual’s contribution to the advancement of facility management professionalism and best practices through such achievements as published works, technology innovation, mentoring and other association/industry leadership initiatives.

“It is an honor to be named an IFMA Fellow and a privilege to have made a contribution to such an important management discipline and distinguished user community over the last 25 years,” said Forbes. “Through innovation and effective business transformation, ARCHIBUS has been able to improve the real estate, infrastructure, and facilities management practices of organizations of every type and size worldwide by increasing the efficiency of their assets, resulting in increased productivity and profitability. We look forward to continuing that pursuit.”

Mr. Forbes is one of fewer than 100 individuals to be named an IFMA Fellow since the organization’s Fellowship Program was founded in 1992. He is among a handful of distinguished nominees chosen to be in this year’s Class of 2008 IFMA Fellows, and one whose sights are set on environmental issues and the roles that the members of the ARCHIBUS User Community (now over 4 million strong) and facility management professionals can play in greening both business and society at large.

Forbes’ Vision: Ubiquitous Environmental Sustainability

In 2002, as a Plenary Session Chair at the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg, Mr. Forbes challenged the Delegates to create enterprises for “Ubiquitous Environmental Sustainability™” (“UES™”) within their countries and throughout the world.

“With the growing focus on environmental sustainability in the public and private sector, facility management professionals are now taking on additional levels of responsibility,” observes Forbes. “Collectively, we can create ubiquitous environmental sustainability at the individual, local, regional, national and international levels. For built environments we can deploy greener energy solutions and identify other ways to reduce carbon footprints within our communities. Each year through the use of the ARCHIBUS suite of tools, including the ARCHIBUS Environmental Sustainability Assessment and ARCHIBUS TEAMS applications, users are able to realize over $100 billion in savings for their organizations.

“Several years ago I began asking members of the ARCHIBUS User community to set aside 5% to 10% of these savings to be applied toward green and UES initiatives. For many of our users, the energy consumption and carbon footprints within their organizations are on the decline. I am extremely pleased with the success we have realized thus far — ARCHIBUS remains committed to providing the software foundation the profession needs to achieve increasingly important environmental goals in the most cost-effective manner.”
